"Punta" 1 Day Tour
(Download as a pdf)
The tour commences at 8.30 from our office in Tena.
After a 45 minute bus ride to the community of Punta you will take a motorised canoe along the River Napo to visit a local Kichwa museum. Here you will see all the weapons, tools, and traps used in the past and in some cases still used today. You can practice your hunting abilities with traditional weapons.
After the museum your guide will take you on short hike into the jungle. He will explain throughout the hike the abundance of resources that the jungle provides to the local people past and present. He will explain the various medicinal plants, plants used for food, fibre and construction.
After the hike you will continue down the river to the Amazonía Animal Rescue centre where you can view the native animals of the Amazon up close.
Our final stop is to the community of Ahuano to see traditional ceramic making before arriving back to Punto.
We can take lunch upon the way, or we can have a late lunch when we arrive in Punto at the local river side café.
We will arrive back in Tena at approximately 5.00pm.
